Motor week-end
I'm not a great fan of motor sports, but Formula 1 is almost in every informal chat in Asturias nowadays. Yesterday, our local pilot (and hero) Fernando Alonso failed in his attempt to win the world championship for the third year in a row. However, today Asturians are not unhappy, only a bit disappointed. This fact may surprise to those who don't follow the F1 races. Actually, it's a long story, but I think it can be summarized in a few words: sometimes, hate can be stronger than love. Whatever the reason is, it is funny and sad at the same time.
By the way, the day before the race, I went to a kart track with a group of friends and colleagues. I'm not a gifted driver, and I don't have any experience in this kind of races, so I was supposed to be the worst of all the drivers. Actually, my objective was to avoid getting embarrassed by my colleagues. It turned out that I did a decent job, and (to my surprise), I managed to score better that some of my colleagues. But the most important thing is that I had lots of fun. For the sceptics, please check the photo and the final classification (13th out of 18, I can't believe it! perhaps I'm ready to move to the next level!).
